spaghetti sauce, lasagne sauce,  or whatever you need a
          great, spicy red meat sauce base.
 

          1 pound lean ground beef
          1 pound hot pork sausage
          1 whole eggplant diced (not peeled)
          2 cans hot Rotel
          2 (6 oz) cans tomato paste
          1/2 cup water
          1   med chopped onion
          one package sundried tomatoes cut into strips
          2 cans mushrooms
          1 cup red wine
          3 Tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
          3 Tbsp garlic powder
          1 Tbsp anise seed
          2 bay leaves
          salt and pepper to taste

          Brown meats with onion until browned.  Drain.  Add all remaining
          ingredients, bring to low boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1 -2 hours,
          depending on how rich you like the sauce.  I like to put it in a slow
          cooker for several hours.  You will LOVE this sauce!
